They promised to stop growing up...

I feel like I am always forgetting something that I wanted to mention when I write their monthly update blogs, so I am going to write this one over a couple of days.  This way I can encompass more of their behaviors and personalities without wracking my brain!

3/6/2015:
I feel like my kids are growing up at 100 mph! They shared breakfast back and forth.  They asked me for more milk.  As I was getting them dressed, they both helped to put their shirts on and then sat down quietly and let me put their shoes and socks on.  They climbed up on the stairs to the sink, TURNED THE WATER ON, and reached for their toothbrushes.  Riley even recognized which one was her toothbrush and handed the other one to Landon.  It appears that I am now living with tiny little people that don’t need/want my help. :)
We went grocery shopping and they did great – as long as I drive by a bunch of grocery stores to get to the one with the double steering wheel shopping carts.  It keeps them entertained as they say “beep beep” and turn the wheels all throughout the store.  I have been asked recently if they have their own language and I am beginning to think they do.  They definitely “talk” to each other and most of the time I cannot understand even a word that comes out of them.  They do call for each other – Riley (“NeNe”) and Landon (“N-don”) can be heard up and down the hall.  They worked on puzzles and shape sorters together.  We danced and sang and read – Red Truck is currently Landon’s favorite book.  Riley likes 8 Silly Monkeys as she likes to point to the monkeys and “count.”

We went bowling today – I under estimated the power of the “ball” with Landon! He went in to some sort of overdrive once he saw them everywhere.  I ended up putting a very light one on the ground to let him roll around and the little stinker picked it up! (Must have been all the practice he has throwing my five pound hand weights around the house!) He came up to the line with me several times and pushed my ball down the lane, the fact is that without him I would have had a terrible score. ;) We kept busy today and went out to lunch and then drove around Charlotte while they took a nap.  Mommy is in the market for a Fitbit Charge HR so we did some shopping after that – turns out they are sold out everywhere so we left Target empty handed and that never happens! The kids loved being outside and walked all the way from REI to Target and back again along with running through the store and entertaining the masses.  We literally had several people stop in their tracks just to watch them run and giggle.  We went to a friend’s house that night and they loved having a new place to explore and climb and a new crowd to entertain.

Nothing exciting to report yesterday.  We spent the day at home playing and “adjusting” to the time change.  I did take them on a run and to the school playground to play.  They were a little too daring and we had to leave after I caught Landon by the back of his shirt at the bottom of the slide.  Riley did take a fall in the driveway at home and ended up with a nice shiner that got us a few looks at the library today.   I took them to the library this morning for story time – we had to skip the gym because they slept until 8am (thank you time change!) and it was just feeling too rushed.  We like to sit on the couch in the morning and enjoy Mommy’s breakfast (their second breakfast) and watch Mickey Mouse and did not want to rush through it.  They love story time! They were shy the first couple of times we went, but this time they went up to the reader and got the scarves/noise makers from her to go along with the songs and then returned them on their own.  There were three sets of twins there all around the same age – along with many other kids – and honestly they were some of the most well behaved.  They just sat in my lap and listened to the stories.  We got home just in time for lunch followed by nap – they were worn out and of course fell asleep in the car already on the way home.  I don’t have any report of the afternoon as I went to work and they got to play with Daddy.  I did get a dreaded text message saying that Landon was coughing a lot and waking himself up… this after working with two children diagnosed with the flu for most of the evening.  Not sure how this is going to pan out for the week…

Love to brush their teeth!

Well, I spent a long night last night with Landon.  I heard him coughing and went in to check on him.  He sat straight up and reached out for me and we spent the next few hours attempting to sleep in our bed.  He had several coughing fits during the night, but it is a wet cough, so hopefully we will avoid the dreaded croup this time! We spent the day playing at home and taking some extra naps.  Landon slept for a few hours in the morning and then not in the afternoon – Riley of course slept in the afternoon so there was not a nap for Mommy.  The highlight of it all though was that when Landon was sleeping I had to stop Riley from going to the door 5 times because she wanted to play with him.  Landon went to the door several times in the afternoon and wanted “NeNe” to wake up to play.  They truly love playing together and it melts my heart.  They reach for each other’s hands and hold hands as they leave rooms together.  If one is crying, the other will come up and pat their back and say “sad.”  They do have their moments of fighting over toys, but the sweet moments are all I choose to remember. :)

Isn't this how everyone watches TV?!

We spent another day at home yesterday.  I don’t want Landon to spread his germs all around.  He really only seems to be coughing in the morning and after nap, but still I want to give him a chance to be “sick” at home.  I can only handle so much time at home though so we went to the gym today.  It was difficult to get ready this morning, they were having a rough time.  I should have known it was going to be a rough time when even Mickey was feeling the wrath. (“Do you want to clap with me?” “No” “Can you clap louder?” “No”) They seem to like their time at the gym and honestly I really enjoy it as well.  Overall, I have lost about 8 pounds since starting there, but I feel better and that was my goal.  We played at home all afternoon, with a short intermission to attempt a run outside.  I hurt my knee the other day cleaning the house.  I underestimated the amount of pain I would feel while running and it was BAD.  The kids liked being outside though and that is what mattered most.  We put some puzzles together and read about 20 books. Riley loves to be a little “mama hen” around here and will take Landon by the hand and bring him to me when I call for him.  He smiles and laughs the whole time.
We made it through the day with only minor injuries... a bruised lip and forehead for Landon.  Add that to the black eye and bruised neck for Riley earlier this week and my knee and we are a mess together – along with colds for all three of us!  :)

So, my plan to write a little every day for a week seemed to fail. Oh well, that is life.  We got some rough news today about my “first born” Rocky.  I took him to the vet for a teeth cleaning and got a call later that they had found a large tumor in his mouth covering some of his teeth.  She used the words “shocked to find” and “aggressive cancer.”  They have to send it out for pathology and there is still a chance that it is not cancer, but there is a much larger chance that it is.  We have to wait a week for the results and then decide the course of action.  Needless to say that has been on my mind tonight.  I had a busy couple of days – working second shift two nights in a row and then went to the office today to do some licensing things.  After getting that phone call I wanted nothing more than to come home and see my babies – I feel like I have not seen them all week – and I knew they would make me feel better.  They succeeded in their job and gave me lots of kisses.  Giving out kisses is one of their new favorite things to do and it is heart warming.  Landon will even pull the pacifier out of Riley’s mouth to give her a kiss! My heart really isn’t in the writing tonight, but I want to get the pictures out there and get this blog updated before they get another month older on me!
This is how you get through the mall, give him a bag to carry. ;)

Inspecting the white stuff falling from the sky.

Tastes Good!

More Snow! Checked it out in our wagon.

First Haircut.

So, Landon wanted to try out the headband.
